Happy Tuesday!
A question that pops up periodically in Coda expert circles sounds something like. . . "Can I create named formulas in Coda?"
The answer is typically, "No, Coda doesn't support that."
WRONG. WRONG. WRONG.
You CAN create your own named formulas.
Guess what else you can do . . . you can SHARE those named formulas with your team.
And . . . you can even package up those named formulas and SELL them to other people through the Coda Marketplace (or The Low Code Grocery!)
You just need to build a pack. I call these formula packs--packs that do nothing but provide named formulas.
To be fair, you can't do EVERYTHING in Coda with packs, but you can do a TON.
How can formula packs benefit you? What can you do with them?
- Create your own library of re-usable formulas for your own business and customers
- Encapsulate complex business logic in customer solutions
- Hide proprietary business logic in your pack formulas
- "Lease" packs to customers as part of your business offering
- Use free packs to grow your Coda business authority
Because the formula code in packs is hidden from users, Coda packs are the perfect vehicle for providing business value to customers without exposing your "secret sauce."
If you are a non-developer and the idea of "writing code" scares the bee-jee-bus out of you, stick around . . . in a couple days, I've got a big announcement for you.
See you on Wednesday!
